Job Summary

The IT Cyber Security Officer is responsible for safeguarding the company’s digital assets, systems, and data from cyber threats. This role involves implementing and maintaining security protocols, conducting regular risk assessments, and ensuring all internal and client systems are secure. The Cyber Security Officer will work with other IT team members to ensure compliance with security standards and best practices while supporting the organization’s IT needs.

Work Type: Full-time

Work Location: Spintex Road, Accra

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Key Responsibilities

Security Protocols & Systems Management:

  • Develop and implement security policies, procedures, and best practices for all IT systems, including networks, software, and databases.
  • Monitor internal and external security threats, ensuring the implementation of firewalls, encryption, and other cyber defense mechanisms.
  • Regularly review and update security measures based on evolving cyber threats and industry trends.

Risk Assessment & Incident Response:

  • Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and penetration tests on company systems.
  • Respond to security breaches, identify the cause, and implement corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
  • Work with the IT/Media Manager to develop a disaster recovery plan and ensure quick recovery from security incidents.

Compliance & Data Protection:

  • Ensure that the company’s IT infrastructure complies with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, local regulations).
  • Conduct training for employees on best practices for cyber security and data protection.
  • Work with clients to implement secure solutions in their software, websites, and IT infrastructure, including advising on data security protocols.

Collaboration & Reporting:

  • Work with the IT team, especially the IT Officers, to ensure security features are correctly integrated into client projects (e.g., ERP systems, websites, and digital platforms).
  • Provide regular reports to the IT/Media Manager on the security status of internal systems and any potential threats or vulnerabilities.
  • Collaborate with the Customer Experience department to ensure that customer data is protected during transactions and interactions.

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cyber Security, or related field.
  • Professional certifications in Cyber Security (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Certified Information Systems Security Professional [CISSP], Certified Ethical Hacker [CEH]) preferred.
  • 2–4 years of experience in IT security, network administration, or cyber threat management.
  • Hands-on experience with security software, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.

Required Skills

    • In-depth knowledge of network security, data protection, and threat management
    • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks related to cyber security and data protection
    • Experience with security tools and software (e.g., firewalls, VPNs, antivirus programs, encryption protocols)
    • Ability to identify and resolve security risks quickly and effectively
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

  1. Number of successful cyber security threats mitigated or prevented
  2. Time taken to identify and respond to security incidents
  3. Compliance with industry security standards and data protection regulations
  4. Number of security audits and penetration tests conducted
  5. Feedback from internal and external stakeholders on the effectiveness of security protocols
